The Jersey County Health Department (JCHD) released the most recent COVID-19 numbers for the county on Jan. 13.
Between Jan. 5 and Jan. 13, there were 489 new positive cases, as well as an additional death. At the time of the report, there were 277 active cases of the virus. There have been a total of 5,059 cases in Jersey County since the pandemic began. The total number of deaths is now 58 and there have been 4,724 recovered cases.
In the county, there have been 27,258 COVID vaccine doses administered. Of the 21,847 residents, 11,205 have been fully vaccinated, or 51.29 percent.
Additionally, JCHD announced that they will be holding drive-thru vaccine clinics every Tuesday in January from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The department will be administering the Pfizer vaccine for those aged five and older, and the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines to those aged 18 and older. There will also be Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson boosters available. Common side effects from receiving a booster shot are pain at injection sight, redness, swelling, tiredness, headache, chills, muscle pain, fever, and nausea, according to the Centers for Disease Control
Appointments aren’t necessary, but anyone wishing to receive a vaccine must have their consent form completed prior to their arrival. The forms can be found at jerseycountyhealth.org.
