Triopia made 11 three-point baskets and beat West Central 59-47, Jan. 15, in the fifth-place game of the Winchester Invitational Tournament.
The Cougars committed seven turnovers and trailed 19-10 after one quarter. Triopia made five three-point baskets in the quarter.
Tysyn Mast made two three-point baskets, and Zack Evans made two free throws as West Central got within 19-18 in the second quarter.
Triopia made consecutive three-point baskets to 25-18 and got a last second basket to take a 32-24 lead at halftime.Mast scored as West Central got within 39-32 with 3:27 remaining in the third quarter. Triopia got two more three-point baskets in the final 3 minutes and led 49-33 after three quarters.
Mast scored 15 points to lead West Central, and Chance Little scored 13.
Evans scored eight points, and Lathan Barnett scored seven. Tyson Brown and Payton Hartley each scored two points.
Evans and Mast combined to score 54 points as the Cougars advanced to the fifth-place game with a 73-63 win over Payson.
The game was tied 5-5 before West Central went on a 22-2 run.
Barnett made two free throws, and Evans made two three-point baskets. Mast had a steal and converted a three-point play to give the Cougars a 16-5 lead with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter.

After Payson scored, West Central scored 10 straight points. Barnett made a free throw, Little scored, Evans made a basket and two free throws, and Jaydon Howard and Brown scored as the Cougars extended their lead to 27-7. They led 29-11 after one quarter.
Hartley scored, and West Central led 40-14 with 4:33 remaining in the second quarter. The Cougars led 47-25 at halftime, and Payson cut the margin to 53-39 after three quarters.
Payson got as close as 62-54 with 1:43 remaining in the game. Evans made eight straight free throws, and Mast made three of four attempts to close out the game.
Evans scored 31 points and was 16-for-17 from the free throw line. Mast scored 23 points and was 8-for-9 from the free throw line.
Little scored six points, and Howard scored five. Barnett and Brown each scored three points. Hartley scored two points.
Brown County got a free throw with 12.5 seconds remaining in the game and beat West Central 57-56 in the quarterfinals.
The Cougars missed a free throw with 5 seconds remaining and a layup bounced the rim at the buzzer.
West Central led 27-24 at halftime. Hartley made a three-point basket to increase the lead to 39-33 with 2:23 remaining in the third quarter. Brown County scored eight points and led 41-39 after three quarters.
Hartley converted a three-point play to give the Cougars a 46-44 with 4:50 remaining in the game. Brown County got a three-point basket with 4:07 remaining to take a 48-46 lead.
Evans scored with 1:06 remaining to give West Central a 54-53, but Brown County scored a few moments later to take a 55-54 lead.
After Brown County made a free throw to increase the lead to 56-54, Evans scored with 16 seconds remaining to tie the game.
Evans scored 17 points and had five assists and five rebounds for the Cougars. Mast scored 14 points and had five steals and three assists.
Hartley scored nine points. Barnett scored six points and had six rebounds, and Howard scored six points. Brown and Little each scored two points.
