Walkerville Baptist Church news – April 20, 2022

From the desk of Pastor David Slagle-217-473-1892
He is risen! He is risen, in deed! Christ is risen and those believers in christ rejoice in his resurrection. It was a great Easter Sunday morning as the Walkerville family of God gathered together for some delicious breakfast goodies. I think we should do this every Sunday morning. I don’t think that’s gonna happen anytime soon. Thank you Amber for the special music.
Easter Sunday is more than plastic eggs and chocolate bunnies and all the commercials that go with the day. Our text this morning was from Luke 23:50-56 and Luke chapter 24:1-12. It is interesting that all four gospels give an account of the death, burial and resurrection but just worded differently. What is important is that the son of God Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb and raised from the dead on the third day. This was all foretold centuries before these events. The proof is in the scriptures. When the women went to the tomb very early on the first day of the week to prepare Jesus body for burial they found the stone rolled away and an empty tomb. Two men in shining garments stood by them and questioned them as to why they sought the living among the dead. In verse six they said, “Remember how he spoke to you when he was still in galilee?” We are just like the women and the disciples, either we don’t pay attention or we don’t listen, but as the men spoke they remembered his words.
I invite you to read the account of the events leading up to and including the empty tomb and the resurrection. Jesus Christ has sealed the believers future in eternity by defeating death, hell and the grave.
Our Wednesday evening bible study will resume this Wednesday evening at 6:30. Don’t have a bible? We have one for you to keep and take home. We rejoiced in praise this morning as one gave an account of recent health improvements. Recent prayer requests are eric/vicky-jeff-dorothy-farmers as planting season begins. Don’t have a church? We invite you to join us each Sunday morning at 10:30 and Wednesday evenings at 6:30.
