After a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic, the ultra-popular Carrollton United Methodist Church Baked Potato Bar is back once again.
The first post-pandemic potato bar will take place this coming Sunday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with proceeds to benefit the children of the war in the Ukraine through UNICEF.
Prior to the pandemic, the Baked Potato Bar was a staple in the community at least three to four times a year to benefit a variety of charities – everything from Relay For Life teams to other local non-profit organizations.
The menu is simple – a nice, big, piping hot, baked in the oven with a variety of toppings including sour cream, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese and a couple others. Hot toppings have typically included broccoli and cheese, sausage and gravy and chili.
There will be ham for build-it-yourself ham sandwiches and a relish tray plus an abundance of homemade desserts and a choice of drinks. All of this for a free-will donation.
The church and fellowship hall are located on the corner of Maple Street and Highway 67 and everyone is welcome to attend.
