Batchtown road work continues

Progress continues this week in Calhoun County as crews work on the next Phase of reconstructing Batchtown Road.

The week of May 2, crews will begin replacing cross road culverts that will require the road to be closed at certain times, depending on weather. It is anticipated that over the coming weeks the road will be closed seven times from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Signs will be placed along the road at least 24 hours in advance of each closure, providing date and times of closures.

Please watch for updates and plan accordingly.

A complete rebuild of the road has been designed and is being built as funding can be secured. A timeline for completing the entire project is undetermined at this time, as additional funding will need to be secured before the County can move forward with completion of the project. The ongoing work is a federally-funded project to replace the existing culverts and re-establish shoulders as necessary to bring the guardrail up to current standards.

The County will continue to pursue funding as it becomes available for the additional grading, culvert and paving work needed to complete the project.
