West Central scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, beating Griggsville-Perry 8-1 in baseball on May 2 in Winchester.
Cole Meyer doubled to lead off the sixth inning. He scored when Mason Berry reached base and ended up on third base after an error. Berry scored on a ground out by Dalton Hutton.
Carson Brown, Tyson Mast and Landon Woods all had infield singles in the sixth inning, and Caden Meyer walked. Lathan Barnett reached on a fielder’s choice, and Tyson Brown drove in a run with a ground out. Meyer drove in a run with his second double of the inning.
Tyson Brown pitched a complete game to pick up the victory.
The Cougars beat North Greene earlier in the day 10-0 in the completion of a suspended game from the previous week.
Hutton singled to drive in Berry in the first inning for the run West Central would need to win.
Caden Meyer drove in a run with a ground out, and Parker Hoots drove in a run with a bunt single in the second inning. Tyson Brown and Cole Meyer each singled to drive in a run, and Berry drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Carson Brown scored on a wild pitch in the third inning.
The Cougars improved their record to 11-12 with the two wins.
