Good Sunday afternoon. It doesn’t seem possible that May is here and school will be out before long. As it is said “time flies the older you get.’’
We enjoyed a great gathering of the family of God last Sunday. We praised our lord and savior for one of our family members who doesn’t have to use his portable oxygen anymore. We enjoyed special music and a special reading from two of our own.
Sunday, May 1, was Mother’s Day. We welcomed Toyna Anthony from the Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center in Jacksonville as our special guest and speaker. She shared the mission of the resource center. There was a special freewill offering received for the resource center.
Our message last Sunday morning was from the Book of John Chapter 1:1-5: bringing the light into the darkness. John opens his Gospel by referring to Christ as the Word of God. It is interesting that John alone refers to Christ in this way in the first chapter of John. Also in 1 John 5:7, “There are three who bear witness in heaven, the father, the word, and the Holy Spirit; these three are one.” He also refers to Christ as the word in Revelation 19:13 where he states, “He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood and his name is called the Word of God.’’ Jesus Christ is the focus of all that we receive from God. Jesus Christ and his body, “the church” is the reason for the creation of the world and this world will only exist until that kingdom is complete. Our recent prayer requests are Eric/Vicky and family, Vera/Bob/Vera’s daughter-in-law, and Dorothy for continued healing. We invite you to join us each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. for Bible study. Come as you are, and if you need a Bible, we have one for you to take home. Be sure and join us next Sunday. God bless.
