From the desk of Pastor David Slagle – 217-473-1892
Almost sounds like a broken record as I say, God has blessed us with another beautiful Sunday morning. As we gather together in our place of worship this morning, I am reminded that we, here in the United States, enjoy the freedom of worship that many around the world do not have. And we, here in the United States, take this freedom for granted. So many churches are closing, pastors are leaving, and people are staying home to watch church services online. College age students were asked if the bible is still relevant, or of interest in this date and time, and the answer, very often, was no. Out of date, not important, and some likened it to a story book. We as pastors and ministers need to preach and teach the true word of God and not preach entertainment, trying only to reach numbers instead of souls for the Kingdom of God. Our text this morning was found in John chapter 1:12-18. I invite you to read these verses and see that when we received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, He (God) gave us the right to become children of God. Our recent prayer requests are Diane for a test, Eric and Vicky, Ava and Dan, and Cheryl for back pain. We invite you to join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 for bible study. Don’t have a bible? We have one for you to keep and take home. We are in the book of Romans. God bless.
