Another Carrollton teacher has run afoul of the law and will be facing a judge in Greene County Circuit Court.
Carrollton High School ag teacher and high school girls head basketball coach Blaine Hartwick, has been charged with DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident after a single vehicle accident on Saturday, June 4.
According to the police report from the Carrollton Police, who handled the accident, Hartwick, 36, from Eldred, lost control of his vehicle on Highway 108 and struck a tree near CNB Bank causing his vehicle to overturn.
Hartwick left the scene of the accident but was later arrested at a nearby residence at 4:30 a.m. and charged with DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He was booked into Greene County Jail but posted bond and was later released.
According to Greene County State’s Attorney Caleb Briscoe, Hartwick, through his attorney, Mark Gillingham, has filed a motion for a substitution of judge to hear the case. His attorney has also filed for identification, sequestration, preservation and production of police radio transmission recordings of both audio and video in the case.
Hartwick has a first appearance set for July 5 at 9 a.m.
