Bonnie N. Tolbert | 88 | Pittsfield

Bonnie N. Tolbert, 88. of Pittsfield, IL, and formerly of rural Hamburg, passed away Saturday morning, July 2, 2022 at the Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield.Bonnie was born July 14, 1933, near Mozier, a daughter of Leo Lawrence and Henrietta Webb Dwyer. She married Jesse R. Tolbert on Nov. 25, 1950 at the Methodist parsonage in Hamburg. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2014.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, Bonnie worked as a clerk at G.A. Clendenny and Sons store and bookkeeper at Clendenny Garage, both in Mozier.
Bonnie spent many years serving as an election judge as well as being a member of the Belleview Community Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She spent many years as treasurer for Poor Cemetery.
Bonnie enjoyed baking cakes, shopping of any kind, and watching Daniel O’Donnell on Saturday nights with her friends. Her only gift request each year was for new socks.
One of her proudest moments occurred in 2006 when one of her and Jesse’s cows had triplet calves after twins the previous two years.
Survivors include son Greg (Debbie) Tolbert of Lake Ozark, MO, grandchildren Kyle (Shana) Tolbert of Ozark, MO and Jessica (Brent) Merryman of Barry, great granddaughters, Kinsley, Landrie and Blair Merryman, a sister, Evelyn Pearson of Godfrey as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse, and sister Betty McKinnon.
Greg would like to give a special thank you to Bonnie’s niece Tasha Davis and family, and all the great ladies who helped her be able to stay home the last few years. You know who you are.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill conducted by Pastor Darin Workman. Burial will follow at the Poor Cemetery near Mozier. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Poor Cemetery or to the Long Cemetery.
