Got Faith Ministry is once again collecting school supplies for area teachers, from now until Aug. 1. This is the ninth year the ministry has held this supply drive. The bus is parked in front of Walmart in Jerseyville, where it will remain until collection day.
Got Faith founder, Steve Pegram, said that Jerseyville is “such a great community, they really come together and they have done so much to help us so that we can bless others.”
The supply drive aims to collect things that are more teacher-specific, rather than student-specific. Pegram said they are looking for copy paper, tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer, pencils, pens and other classroom items.
“Teachers do so much for their students and purchase a lot of stuff for their classrooms out of their own pocket,” said Pegram. “This is a way to give back to them and show how much support they have in the community.”
Items can be brought to the bus and dropped off or they can be purchased in the store. The bus will be accepting items throughout the rest of the month and the donations will be presented to the teachers in August.
Pegram also noted that “Santa will be coming early this year” with the upcoming Christmas in July event Got Faith is hosting this weekend. He said that Santa will be paying the Got Faith Ministry Center, at 508 West Pine St., Jerseyville, a visit on Friday, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. He will be bringing 400 cookies with him from the Hardees in Jerseyville. Those wishing to visit with Santa must take their own photos. Santa will also be traveling to Eckert’s Belleville on July 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
