The Alsey Burgoo promises more than 12 hours of food, fun and entertainment this Saturday.
Theme of the annual event is “Redneck Yacht Club.”
Kettle service for the burgoo starts at 6:30 a.m.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. Line-up is at the brick plant. Following the parade, this year’s parade marshal or captain of the “Redneck Yacht Club”, John Fryman will be introduced.
Following Fryman’s recognition, the Jacksonville Drumline Institute will perform on state. The group has performed the past few years at the Alsey Burgoo and is very popular with the crowd.
Introduction of all pageant contestant will follow.
Single serving burgoo, along with chicken or fish dinners will be from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. The hamburger stand will be open all day and will offer fish sandwiches and bowls of burgoo.
Isaiah Christian will be on stage from 2-5 p.m.
There will be free giveaways throughout the day, including the grand prize, a couch, at the end of the evening.
Crowning of the Little Mr. and Miss and the Junior Miss will be held at 5:30 p.m. Fryman will receive formal recognition at 7 p.m. followed by the crowning of Miss Alsey.
The weather report says the day will be an average summer day with a cloud cover and a breeze to make the day pleasurable.
