Jerseyville welcomed a new business to town on Monday, Aug. 1, as Scooter’s Coffee officially opened its drive-thru hut at 11 a.m.
The grand opening of Scooter’s has been highly anticipated by Jerseyville residents since the announcement of the coffee shop’s new location was made earlier this year.
The Jerseyville Scooter’s location is owned by married couple, Jamie (majority owner) and Scott Gaffner. Scott weighed in on how he feels about Scooter’s first few days of operation, calling the opening a success.
“We’re really excited about the reception the people of Jersey County have given us,” Gaffner said. “There’s been a large radius of people who’ve come to see us.”
Since opening, Scooter’s has been visited by people across the area who are eager to grab a treat at the new Jerseyville establishment. According to Scott, the shop has already enjoyed serving customers from several of Jersey’s neighboring counties.
“We’ve had customers from Calhoun County, Greene County, Montgomery County, Macoupin County, Madison County, and even some from Iowa and Ohio,” he said.
Gaffner, originally from Greenville, lived in Jerseyville from 1990-1995 while he was a State Trooper. He then worked for the State Police for over 29 years before joining the Scooter’s franchise. Gaffner expressed his excitement about returning to Jerseyville as a business owner.

“It’s nice to come back and be reunited with hometown people,” Gaffner said. “I want people here to feel appreciated, give them a good product, and fast efficient service.”
Scooter’s is a drive-thru-only shop that serves up specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, teas, as well as food items including breakfast sandwiches and burritos, cinnamon rolls, and bakery items.
The new café joins the ever-expanding list of businesses that are bringing people to Jerseyville and the reception to the Scooter’s grand opening has been positive so far, according to Scott. He said that he and Jamie hope that the success continues.
“We just wanna make Jerseyville a destination where people can shop, enjoy themselves, and experience all this town has to offer,” Gaffner said.
Currently, Scooter’s is open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. They are located at 600 South State Street and can be reached by phone at 618-639-2326.
