The weather this week has been great with some much needed rain. The birds have been eating like crazy– sure enjoy watching them.
Remember our men and women in uniform and the leaders of our country in your prayers. The Winchester High School Class of 1959 held their 63rd Class Reunion on Saturday, July 23, at the Elks Lodge in Jacksonville. Our sophomore year, we had 55 members. This year, there are 21 class members left. There were 17 classmates and six guests present.
Queen of Hearts drawing at Grand Slam Bar and Grill (old Alsey School building) each Monday night at 7 p.m. Proceeds go to Mandy Bark and Whine Dog Rescue.
Queen of Hearts drawings at Rose’s Cantina, 129 Main Street in Alsey are held each Thursday at 7 p.m. Proceeds go to Scott County EMS.
Alsey Burgoo Picnic Homecoming is Aug. 5. Kettle Service at 6:30 a.m. Parade at 10 a.m. which will line up at Brick Factory. Jacksonville Drumline performs immediately after the parade. Menu includes Burgoo, fish, chicken, potato salad, slaw, baked beans, dessert, and iced tea. Dinner stand will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Irish Christian Band takes the stage from 2 to 5 p.m.
Hamburger stand will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., honoring John Frymen for his years of dedicated work. Vendors will also be there. Come spend the day.
Peggy Clemmons enjoyed lunch with Dorothy Benton and Sonie Smith. The three were celebrating Peggy’s birthday.
Judy and Josh Cannon took Peggy Clemons to Two Dogs in Roodhouse to celebrate Peggy’s birthday. The trio enjoyed tacos.
