Kampsville News – August 10, 2022

By Diane Brangenberg

The Kampsville Summer Celebration committee was up and actually saw the sunrise together working hard to prepare for the Celebration Breakfast Fundraiser. We had a lot of fun and so many laughs. Part of the prep begin on Friday evening and there was a lot of laughs then too. Mayor Wade, Brenda Johnson, Rob and Kim Parameter, Debby Klunk, Olivia Clowers, Meghan Klunk, James Palmer, Nina Wilson and myself all had a great time. There is nothing better than when it’s so much fun it doesn’t even seem like work. Thank you so much to the Kampsville Legion for the use of your facilities and for always showing your support to us.
Thank you Mark and Debbie at the Pavilion for doing our ordering for us and for donating the tea and coffee.
Also thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed breakfast or picked up carry outs.
Time is getting close– Aug. 20 will be here before we know it. So we are really working hard to plan an amazing 150th Birthday for Kampsville as well as our Celebration. We would love to have participation in our parade as well as vendors. We are putting together some great baskets and we have basket donations coming in. Thank you to all who donated money toward the trophies for the kids stage games. Don’t forget to mark your calendars; you are not going to want to miss this fun-filled day.
Congratulations Lex Johnson son of Shannon and Jeanette Johnson was sworn in at the beginning of July into the United States National Guard Army. He will be doing a weekend month until he graduates high school and then he will ship out for basic June 2023. What a wonderful young man or community is proud.
Pat Gotway, Kathy Ellis, Curt and Carol Robeen enjoyed brunch at Pere Marquette with their 97-year-old aunt Virginia Robeen Fiedler. She is the only aunt left on the Curt and Elinore Robeen side of the family. Nieces and nephews from the family came near and far with a good size attendance to enjoy visiting with her at brunch. Sadly thinking of the ones that were no longer with them but sharing good memories. Their Aunt Ginny is so precious and a joy to be around.
Virginia Breden was the guest of honor Sunday at a Surprise Birthday party celebrating her 90 birthday at Straight Home. The party was hosted by her children and a great time was had by all. Virginia is a wonderful lady and she raised a great family.
Also celebrating a birthday on Sunday, Aug. 7 my grandson Ren Taul He turned 5. He had a great birthday party hosted by his Mom Lindsey. He enjoyed having his cousins over and playing hard all day.
Jody Heidenreich was honored with a dinner Saturday to celebrate his retirement from Calhoun Unit 40.
We are still looking for that Queen at our Legion better get that ticket bought.
Just a reminder the dumpster in the campground is for Village use and for campers to use. Please do not put your trash in the dumpster.
