Registration is now open to all residents who wish to attend the annual Veterans Ball to be held at the American Legion in Winchester on Nov. 5.
All veterans, family members of veterans, and residents who want to attend the ball to support veterans are encouraged to make reservations for the Veterans Ball.
A schedule of activities at the ball include:
■ 3:30 p.m. meet and greet
■ 5:20 p.m. veteran parade
■ 5:30 p.m. national anthem and welcome speech
■ 5:45 p.m. toasts
■ 6 p.m. dinner
■ 7 p.m. cutting of the cake and creation of the grogg
■ 7:15 p.m. service feud (family feud military style)
■ 8 p.m. music and dancing (live music by Isiah Christian and the Rebel Saints)
Pizza will be provided halfway through the night’s festivities
Because the event honors all veterans, the ball is filled with mixed traditions from all the service branches.
While the intent of the Veterans Ball is to celebrate veterans, the Legion welcomes anyone who wants to support veterans of the armed forces.
The Veterans Ball is a formal occasion. Veterans are encouraged to wear their dress uniforms. Veterans who do not wish to wear their dress uniforms and non-veterans are required to wear suits, and formal wear for women is appropriate.
Polo shirts, T-shirts, jeans, or khaki type clothing are not allowed.
Register for the event by going to the following website: https://www.winchesterilveterans.com/event-details/3rd-annual-winchester-veterans-ball.
Registration for the event is $75 per person.
