Clear the streets for street oil and chipping

All streets on the east side of Milton will be receiving oil and chip Wednesday, Sept. 7. The west side of town, all of Claus Street and Davis, Moore, and Lester streets from Claus Street to Pittsfield Street will be oiled and chipped as well. Residents must clear all vehicles and items from in and along side the streets in these areas  Wednesday, Sept. 7.  Thank you for your cooperation.
Milton Christian Church is hosting an old fashioned block party on the Milton square Sept. 11, 4-8 p.m. Along with pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs, there will be games, inflatables and music. Everyone is welcome.
The East Pike Class of 72 is planning a get together Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. at River Bank restaurant in Florence.  Besides wanting all classmates to attend, anyone, older or younger that was in school with us, is welcome to join us. Text 217-491-0460 for more information.  Milton-Pearl HCE is planning their flea market for the Milton Corn Carnival Sept. 23-24.  Donations of household items will be accepted September 21-22 at the Community Center. The money earned at the flea market has been used to help support things like the community centers in Milton and Pearl, Christmas Basket program, Honor Flight, Unmet Needs, 4-H trophies and other community projects.
The Milton Corn Carnival is Sept. 23-25.  If anyone is interested in volunteering please call or text Ashlee Nash at 217-370-8524. Pageants are Friday evening. To sign up for the Baby Contest or Little Mr. & Mrs., contact Heather Richards at 217-491-2008. The deadline to sign up is the Sept. 17.  To sign up for the Jr Miss or Queen contest, contact Julie Boyle at 217-242-9491. The deadline to sign up is Sept.10. Games for the kids start at 10 a.m. Saturday and the parade begins at 1:30 p.m. More fun activities will follow the parade. Saturday evenings entertainment is a hypnotist at 7:30 p.m.  Come and enjoy Milton’s delicious pork sandwiches, carnival rides, and fun for the whole family!
