Debbie (Eberlin) Tepen had a notice inside the area church bulletins. She is working with a charitable organization called “Stitches for Life.” It’s a group of ladies who enjoy sewing and sew for other charitable organizations. They are in need of fabric and sewing notions (thread, needles, bias tape, etc). If you have anything to donate to her cause please contact her at datepen@yahoo.com and she will make arrangements to pick it up and get it to the organization. She is also looking for sewing machines, working or not, as they have someone who repairs them.

With 9/11 being yesterday and such a horrible reminder of what took place 21 years ago, I have chosen a prayer for this day. Also referred to as Patriot Day, to commemorate the lives of so many that died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia and those who perished when the hijacked United Airlines Flight crash in Pennsylvania. We also honor the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency workers, etc. who answered the call to duty and the many who were killed. The lives of 2,977 innocent people were cut short on that day. It’s considered one of the most unconscionable tragedies in our country’s history. Let us never forget what happened on that day or those who lost their lives.
Father of mercies and God of all comfort, be with those who are hurting. As we remember the many lives lost this day, as well as the heroic efforts of the first responders, we are humbled by the brevity of life. Preserve our nation from future attacks and, even more, guard our hearts from the attacks of the evil one. May we remember this day and every day in light of eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen
