Two arrested with multiple charges

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested Amanda Koskela and Melinda Powers in Brussels last Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that after conducting a traffic stop near Schleeper Lane, which resulted in the arrest of both Koskela and Powers.
After conducting a search the driver of the vehicle, Koskela, age 42 of Florissant was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, promoting prostitution, felony driving while suspended, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating uninsured, improper lane usage and improper registration lighting.
Powers, age 31 of Florissant, a passenger in the vehicle was also arrested and charged with violating a felony no bond parole warrant out of Missouri, unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of obstructing identification, two counts of prostitution and a seatbelt violation.
Both suspects were arrested without incident according to the release and lodged in the Jersey County Jail.
“The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are forthcoming,” the release stated.
All suspects are considered innocent unit proven guilty in a court of law.
