Although Christmas may seem far away, it is only 14 weeks from Sunday and only 11 weeks until the hometown Christmas parade. With the time flying by, it is time to order a Memory Tree for loved ones to be placed around the square and lit up on the evening of the Hometown Christmas parade, Dec. 3.
“Right now, we have limited availability,” Stevie VanDeVelde, co-chairman of the program, along with Sonnie Hoover, said.
Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Winchester Civic Group.
This year, the #3 pot will be $70 and the #6 pot will be $95.
The program, which has been a Winchester tradition for several years, makes trees available in memory of a loved one.
The trees will be lightly adorned and displayed around the square for the holiday season. Each tree will include a tag with the name of the one in which the tree is donated.
After the holiday season, Jan 2 or after, the trees can be collected by the family or friend who purchased the tree or can be donated to the City of Winchester to help beautify the city.
Contact with VanDeVelde at 217-473 or Hoover art 217-473-7253.
Cash or checks can be mailed to VanDeVelde at 437 Cherry Street, Winchester, 62694.
