From the desk of Pastor David Slagle-217-473-1892.
The morning started out rainy, but the day finished dry and hot. It seems like summer came and left so soon and this coming Thursday is the first day of autumn. Be sure to circle Oct. 2 on your calendar– Walkerville Baptist Church will welcome Servants’ Hearts with George and Sandy Campbell with Dee Cunningham in concert in our morning worship service. They will present the good news of the Gospel in word and song. There is no admission charge. There will be a freewill offering received. A luncheon will follow the concert.
It was good to gather in the house of God this morning and we welcome a good number of the family of God. Our text this morning was from Exodus 3:1-15 and verse 20 of chapter 4–Moses and the burning bush. As I read that encounter with God, I wonder how many of us encounter God in our lives and question, “Why me god?’’ You see, Moses was concerned, but not committed, about the people of Israel. He now had it made. A home, job, wife, and children, but God had a plan for him, just like God has a plan for each of us. God was concerned and committed, therefore he chose Moses to be his spokesman. Our recent prayer requests are Bob and Vera, Ava and Dan, Dianne and Randy, Cheryl’s cousin, April Bour’s upcoming surgery, Pat Hyberling, and Jane’s niece. We invite you to join us each Sunday morning for our 10:30 a.m. worship service and Wednesday evening Bible study at 6:30 p.m.
Remember, God loves you. See you in church!
