After several years of postponed development, work is underway once again on Westminster Place in Hardin.
Plans for the hilltop subdivision began years ago when Merle Inman platted out 25 lots and set up electric, gas and water. However, development stopped after Inman’s death with only one home being completed on the property.
Now construction has resumed, with a new home nearing completion and the foundation of another being set. According to Nate Sagez, broker with PCRE Real Estate and Auction, is in charge of the project. Sagez said he had always been aware of the plans for the subdivision and once the property became available for purchase around 2018 he took the opportunity to continue with Inman’s original plan.
Sagez said it took a lot of cleanup to get the property ready for construction, but there is a lot of potential.
“It’s one of the last undeveloped areas in Hardin,” Sagez said. “The floods in 1993 and 2019 took away a lot of people’s homes and places to live here, so my goal is to help bring that back. People still want to live here or move back here.”
Sagez said it’s exciting to see progress on the subdivision.
“It’s exciting, it’s been a long time in the works,” he said. “I feel like there’s been a lot of improvements in Hardin in the past five to ten years, with new business and things, there’s just a lot of good things popping off and we got to have places for people to go, so we can continue to keep people here and continue to thrive.”
