Buster and Rose Anne Craven recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
The Cravens were married on September 23, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield. Buster is the son of the late Hub and Mary Craven of Griggsville and Rose Anne is the daughter of the late John and Margaret Smith of Pittsfield.
They are the parents of Jennifer and Everett Craven of Griggsville.
Buster spent over 40 years as a truck driver, working for Davis Cleaver of Quincy, Burrows Paper of Ft. Madison, and Shakey’s of Quincy, retiring in 2007.
Rose Anne retired from the Farmers National Bank of Griggsville in 2011 after 21 years. She currently serves as the Griggsville Township Clerk, a position she has held for 41 years.
They have enjoyed many trips to attend reunions of the shipmates who served on the USS Bonhomme Destroyer. They also spent lots of time socializing with dear friends, collecting antiques, A.C. tractors, and studying Griggsville history including finding graves of veterans.
Buster is a life member of the Griggsville American Legion, the Pittsfield Moose Lodge. He has been a resident, since last October, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, where he is lovingly cared for by the staff.
Rose Anne and Jennifer visit him often and also his lifelong friend Bob Blevins of Quincy.
He really enjoys rides in their trolley, visiting sites on the grounds and the cemetery.
They talk, often by the phone, and his only wish is that they be together.
