The Jersey County Arts Council (JCAC) is seeking singers for the fall session of the Children’s Community Choir.
The choir was formed last spring and met throughout the summer. The weekly rehearsals culminated in a well-received Disney concert in early August.
Once again, the group will be directed by Cory Frank and accompanied by Christine Bear. A participation fee will be charged, but scholarships are available.
An orientation and initial rehearsal will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville, located at 400 S. State St. The choir is open to all students in first through seventh grades. Contingent upon enrollment numbers, the choir may be divided into younger and older groups of singers, with separate rehearsal times.
The church’s north entrance will be open for guests, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Weekly rehearsals will be scheduled beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11, through Tuesday, Dec. 13, with a dress rehearsal on Monday, Dec. 19. The choir will present a public performance of holiday selections on Tuesday evening, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m.
In other JCAC news, Trudy Cairns will teach an acrylic art painting class on Monday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will paint a 14-inch by 11-inch canvas of sunflowers in front of a vintage truck with a lovely sunset behind. There is a cost to participate.
Registration for both the children’s choir and the painting class may be found on the arts council’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jerseycountyartscouncil.
