Larry R. Lashmett | 85 | Winchester

Larry R. Lashmett, 85, of Winchester, passed away on Oct. 21, 2022.

He was born Feb. 23, 1937, the ninth of 15 children of James and Minnie Smith Lashmett.
Sharing sixty-three blessed years together, he married Nancy C. Coultas on Aug. 16, 1959, and she survives. Together they had three children, Becky Lashmett, Matt (wife, Traci) Lashmett both of Winchester, and Katy Lashmett of St. Louis, all surviving.
Larry took great pride in his family and the farm. He began his farm journey at a mere fifteen years of age as a swine producer, before then raising beef cattle in addition to corn and soybeans. He represented an honest and hard-working lifestyle, with an appreciation for reaping what was sown, which was passed on in his legacy.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Danielle) Lashmett and Meghan (husband, Colin) VanDeVelde, both of Winchester, two great-grandchildren, Eden and Everly Lashmett of Winchester, one brother, Jack (wife, Dorothy) Lashmett of Jacksonville, and two sisters, Carol Sellars (husband, Bob) and Linda Slagle (husband, Ron) both of Winchester.
Also surviving is Alvin Foster (wife, Debbie) of Winchester, Larry’s trusted and dedicated right hand man for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Minnie Lashmett as well as siblings, George Lashmett, Jimmy Lashmett, Bill Lashmett, Wilma Shumaker, Geraldine Agans, Dan Lashmett, Warren Lashmett and Judy Patterson. Also preceding were three infant siblings, Thomas, Ned and Sara.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home and Rev. Robin Lyons officiated. Family met friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. Caskets bearers were as followed Steve Lashmett, Brett Lashmett, Andrew Thomas, Brad Slagle, Bobby Sellars and Dallas Lashmett. Honorary casket bearers were as followed Emery Wood, Chuck Frost, Mitchell Smith, Jimmy Agans, Eric Agans, Jay Agans, JD Fearneyhough, Andy Sellars and Chad Slagle.
