Wayne Mountain | 88 | Perry

Wayne Mountain, age 88, of Perry, IL died early Wednesday morning (Oct. 26, 2022) at his residence.
He was born Feb. 16, 1934 in Snake Den Holler near Fishhook, IL.  son of the late Earl Wayne and Gladys Ann Shinnebarger Mountain.
He married Genna Lee Kirgan on June 13, 1953 in the old Mt. Sterling Christian Church and she preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 2017.
Surviving is his children Ron “Hoss” (wife Corinna) Mountain of Pittsfield, Janet (husband Scott) Whittaker of Lexington, IL, and Mark (wife Kimberly) Mountain of Perry, his 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, who he greatly loved with all his heart, and Matt Bradbury of Mt. Sterling who was also his “son.”
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Mountain (surviving wife Brenda of Perry); a grandson, Jason Mountain; and brothers, James, Dean and Bill Mountain.
Wayne graduated from Perry High School and graduated from Auctioneers School in Minnesota and started brokering on his own for Mountain Real Estate for 25 years. Wayne was a 33 year employee of C.I.P.S in Meredosia and retired in 1993.  Wayne and Genna tackled many many projects together.  They built a vacation and deer hunting rental cabin in the country called Mountains Mountain. It was visited by many people across the U.S.  Wayne was an avid pilot, logging over 1500 hours of flight time as well as giving 600 rides to family and friends.  Wayne also built and flew two aircraft.  Wayne was a fixture in the Perry community and was known far and wide for his wit and sense of humor.
