It’s November and Thanksgiving is this week, Thursday, Nov. 24. Hope you and your family enjoy the day with family and friends on this day of gratitude in our American History of our Country, and family.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society honored their volunteers at the Rastello Room in Hardin Tuesday, Nov. 15. They enjoyed a meal together. All are thankful to the Calhoun community for their generosity and support.

Saturday evening guests of Eldon and Christine Johnes were Sarah and Greg Harding, and Tim and Kathy Eason from Arkansas. All enjoyed the visit.
Bette Eilerman travelled to Linn, Mo. last week to visit and stay with her grandchildren, Connor, Madison, and Carter. While Lisa and Bryan were working. While there, they enjoyed Connor’s 5th birthday party with the other children. Happy birthday Connor.
Saturday, Bette returned home, Bryan, Lisa and family came too. Bryan went deer hunting, and the Eilerman family celebrated Thanksgiving together.
Family brought their soups, salads, and desserts and the children played at all the fun things they like to do at grandma and grandpa’s house. Those there were, Mike and Tracie and family; Brian and Kay and family; Greg and Lauren and family; and Nick.
Birthday greetings to Kay Tepen who celebrated her birthday with Tom and family on Nov. 11– have a wonderful year.
Linda Russell celebrated Thanksgiving at her home those there were, Jeremy and Angie Russell and daughters, Zoe, and Sadie; Steve and Cindy Mezarous and Hayden; Bonnie and Bob Stepanek and Austin, and girlfriend, Jess; and Michael and Aunt Marcy Klockenkemper. A wonderful Thanksgiving meal was served, there was conversation and the kids playing games.
The Batchtown Woman’s Club will make, and deliver fruit baskets on Saturday, Dec. 3. They will enjoy a brunch together before starting out to deliver the fruit baskets.
Verann Klockenkemper enjoyed having her sister, Elda Hayn; and nieces, Tonya and Tammy over to visit last week.
Jackie Barczewski celebrated her 20th birthday Saturday with family at the Texas Road House in St. Louis. Those attending were parents Greg and Rosemary Barczewski, Henry, Brad and Anna Rose, and Bradley, Will, Nicolas, and Emma, Marilyn Klockenkemper, and Logan Jacobs. Everyone had a good time. Happy birthday, and have a wonderful year.
Katie Bick had a surprise birthday party at the Batchtown Tavern Saturday evening with family and friends. On Sunday her actual birthday, Nov. 20 family Lindy and Martha Bick, David and Rachel Bick, and Levi and Claire, and Amy, and Ian Schletzle got together for a birthday meal together. Happy birthday Katie have a great year
Merlin Klaas, 93, of Batchtown passed away at home Friday night, Nov. 19. He was a farmer and enjoyed hunting and playing the guitar. He and his brothers also played guitars and played in a band together. He enjoyed being with the family. Merlin’s visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Brussels. The funeral mass will be Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church with burial at St. Barbara’s Cemetery. Merlin is survived by a sister Ellen Klocke, and three brothers: Virgil (Angeline) Klaas, Aloys (Marie) Klaas, Danny (Vivian) Klaas.
Bernie and Robin Hillen and family, and Lindy and Martha and family made turtle soup together over the weekend. All had a good time making the soup.
