Bryleigh Fox scored 27 points as West Central beat Pleasant Hill/Western 53-35 in girls’ basketball Nov. 14 at Winchester.
The game was tied at 6 before West Central scored the last seven points of the first quarter.
Gabby Sievers made a basket and two free throws, and Fox was fouled on a three-point shot attempt at the buzzer. She made all three free throws to give West Central a 13-6 after one quarter.
Pleasant Hill/Western scored the first two points of the second quarter, but the Cougars scored the next 15 points.
Fox scored 12 straight points, including two three-point baskets, to extend the lead to 25-8. Trystan White made a three-point basket, and West Central led 28-8 with 2:02 remaining in the second quarter.
The Cougars led 28-13 at halftime, and Pleasant Hill/Western never got closer than 12 points in the second half.
Sievers scored nine points for the winners (1-0). Brylee Lawson scored eight points, and Braylee Littig scored four. White scored three points, and Elise Brown scored two.
