It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Kampsville thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, Rob Parameter, Shawn Shewemake, Jon Wankel and Bob Gardner. Thank you, Mark Becker, for supplying the bucket truck and assisting. The Kampsville American Legion donated the new bulbs to replace the ones that had gone bad. We are truly blessed here in Kampsville that we have guys that are always willing to step up.
Don’t forget to get your Queen of Hearts tickets at the Legion. Our Legion is so giving not only did they donate the lights for the decorations they also donate along with the auxiliary all of the candy for Santa to give out at the Christmas Party.
There will be a vendor event Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Landing. Amy and Teresa will be raffling some baskets for the town Christmas party and Amy and Emily McBride have graciously offered to run a Bake Sale to help with the party. We definitely can use bakers.
My trusty crew, Olivia and Ava Clowers, Reagan Clendenny, Michelle Kallal, Linda Hazelwonder and I left the house at 3:30 a.m. to head to Springfield on Black Friday for a day of shopping and bargains. We found a lot of great gifts for the party as well as some raffle items. Debby and Tonya Klunk also shopped the day away getting things for the party. Mark your calendars for Sunday, Dec. 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the Center for American Archeology Gym.
Saturday, Dec. 3, Christmas in Calhoun is from 1-6 p.m. on Main Street in Hardin and Elf School.
Sunday, Dec. 4, is the Calhoun High School Band Concert at the Calhoun Elementary School.
Monday, Dec. 12, St. Norbert’s will host its Live Nativity from 6:30-7 p.m. This is a drive-thru event. If you’ve never taken the opportunity to drive by and see it, you are sure missing out. It’s absolutely wonderful and the kids have so much fun doing it.
Make sure to take a drive to the top of Rocky Hill and make a left to enjoy Christmas in the Woods on Sievers Lane. It’s absolutely wonderful.
Happy 16th birthday to Sophie Gibson on Nov. 20.
Congratulations to the Junior High Lady Warriors on winning First Place in the St. John’s Tournament. Congratulations to Brayln Lammy, Layla Longnecker and Anna Eberlin on being chosen All Tournament.
Congratulations to Jaelyn Hill who has signed with Illinois College for Academics and Basketball. Jaelyn is the daughter of Steve and Rachael Hill.
Violet Breden passed away Saturday afternoon. Violet was the kindest woman who had the most beautiful sparkling eyes. She was my very first boss when I was just 15 years old, at the Calhoun Nursing Home. She was the kitchen supervisor and I assisted in the kitchen. Please keep her daughters, Karen, Ruth, Mary, Jane, and Janet; and her sons, Gene, Jim and Donnie in your prayers. As well as all of her many grandchildren. Please add Danny Sievers to your prayers and continue prayers for Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Amy Roth, Joyce Blumenberg, Darren Kress, Zel Blumenberg, Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Shelly Pohlman and Linda Herkert.
