Christmas is three weeks and three days away
As of this newspaper date (Nov. 30), there are three weeks and three days until Christmas!
I was told that there will not be a free Christmas dinner at the Cardinal Inn this year unless some groups such as several churches would want to go together and put that on. If there is some serious consideration in several groups doing this, please call the Cardinal Inn (1-217-285-1448) and talk to Luetta.
While the going is good in our area (no icy roads or a blizzard), get out of the house and do things and go places. Happenings in Our Area:
The Detroit Christian Church will present their yearly Live Nativity Sunday, Dec. 1h from 6-8 p.m. The location is the same as in the past, 515 W Washington St. in Pittsfield, which is across from McDonald’s and beside the Great Rivers Bank, Pittsfield Facility.
Continuing Wednesdays, through Dec. 21, The Bright Star Parish is having a Bible Study on John the Baptist and the season of Advent. The study will be based on Adam Hamilton’s Book “Prepare the Way For the Lord.” The Bible study will be for 4 weeks, at the Griggsville United Methodist Church and will start at 7 p.m Wednesdays and can be attended in person or by Zoom.
Saturday, Dec. 17, in the town of New Salem, there is to be a Meet and Greet Santa Claus Lighted Parade. All kids and parents are welcome to come. Everyone is to meet at 6 p.m. at the park north of New Salem (the park is located farthest from the main town of New Salem going towards Baylis). There will be prizes to giveaway and a cookie decorating contest. All ages of kids are welcome. This is hosted by Gloria Castleberry, and anyone with questions can call her at 1-217-491-7239.
Ongoing activities: free exercise class at the Findley Place in Pittsfield every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30-11 a.m. . Everyone is welcome to attend.
Classes offered at the Pike County Senior Center in Pittsfield: Bootkickers lessons are every Monday night; Zumba class is every Tuesday night; and Yoga is every Wednesday night. Anyone interested in any of these, please call the Center for more details at 217-285-4969.
I for one certainly enjoyed the entertainment provided by Roy Mathy of Virginia, Saturday evening, Nov. 26, at the Cardinal Inn. He can really play that guitar beautifully plus he sings great.
