Cleo Shirley Price | 103 | White Hall

Cleo Shirley Price, age 103, passed into the arms of Jesus at the White Hall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Jan. 5, 2023. She was born Feb. 9, 1919 in Russell County, Ky, and lived most of her life in the Hillview, IL area.  She was the daughter, and last surviving child, of Elmer Osco and Delno Phelps Beck. She married Lester Price on Dec. 19, 1954. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1992.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry (Judy, deceased) Watts of Valdosta, GA, Gordon (Chris) Killebrew of Cross Plains, TN, and Phillip (Connie) Killebrew of Menifee, CA., 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, and 20 nieces and nephews including David Beck and his wife Barb Beck who provided unending loving care and comfort during the last years of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers, and sisters Belva Turpin Cotter, Ruby Williams, Ralph Woodrow Beck, Rhea Wendol Beck, Sylva Price, Sammy Reno, and Noble Beck, and two sons Richard E. Watts (Karen) and Dennis Watts (Wanita) deceased (Nancy).
Shirley was a member of the Hillview Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Royal Neighbors of Hillview, ran the restaurant at Hillview for a period of time, worked at Kordite in Jacksonville for several years, and also worked with her husband on the family farm.  Her family, friends, and many charities benefitted from her talents as a cook, baker, needleworker, and quilter. Guests at her dinner table will always remember her tasty meals and pies cut in ¼’s and served.  She was truly a gifted woman.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Burial followed in White Hall Cemetery. Visitation was from 12 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hillview Baptist Church.
