Chance Little and Jaydon Howard combined to score 44 points as West Central beat Greenfield-Northwestern 63-49 Jan. 5 at Greenfield.
West Central just 14-10 after one quarter and 20-16 early in the second. Howard scored and Little scored twice to extend the lead to 26-16.
After Greenfield-Northwestern scored, the Cougars scored the next 11 points. Greenfield-Northwestern did score for the final 5 minutes of the second quarter.
Tyson Brown made a three-point basket to start the run. Zack Evans scored 12 seconds remaining, and the Cougars led 37-18 at halftime.
Little and Howard both scored, and West Central led 41-18 early in the third quarter. Greenfield-Northwestern scored 12 straight to cut the margin to 43-32 with 2:30 remaining in the quarter.
Little scored, Evans made two free throws, and Howard scored as the Cougars increased their lead to 49-32. They led 49-34 after three quarters.
Little scored 28 points and made 13 of 15 field goal attempts to lead West Central. He also had eight rebounds. Howard scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds.
Evans scored nine points and had seven assists. Brown scored three points and had six assists. Mason Berry scored three points. Dalton Hutton and Derek Price each scored two points.
West Central won the junior varsity game 42-36.
Cameron Sievers scored 12 points to lead West Central. Caden Meyer scored 11 points, and Landyn Woods scored 10. Nick Hamilton scored seven points, and Zac Howard scored two.
