Next weekend, the annual Adult Prom is returning to Calhoun for a radical night of 80s-themed activities.
The Calhoun Elementary and Jr. High PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) will be hosting their third Adult Prom at the KC Hall in Hardin on Saturday, Jan. 28, with live band Exit 52; nacho bar, silent auction and card draw raffle. The event will have a 1980s theme and you have to be 21 to attend. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the band will perform from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m., midnight.
Event organizer, Peggy Hall, gave some insight into what the funds raised by the event will be used for and what they have been used for in years past.
“The event raises money for the Calhoun Elementary and Jr High PTO, which funds field trips and helps with any other expenses for the school that we can,” said Hall. “We have done technology in the past, to teachers for classroom use, and other needs for the kids.”
According to Hall, the first event took place in January of 2020, and has been done each year since, with the exception of 2021, due to COVID-19 concerns.
Attendees are invited to wear 80s-themed attire, in line with the dance’s theme, but are not obligated to do so.
“It’s a fun night out,” read a post on the Calhoun Elementary School PTO Facebook page. “You don’t have to dress up if you don’t want. Come casual, just a fun night to support the kids.”
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and can be purchased at the Calhoun Elementary School Office, from Hall, or Liz Sievers. More information can be found by visiting the Calhoun Elementary School PTO Facebook page.
