Elmer R. Lakin | 88 | White Hall

Elmer R. Lakin, age 88 of White Hall, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023 at his residence. He was born Nov. 10, 1934 in Rush Hill, MO, the son of Charles and Evelyn DeShaiser Lakin. He married Cecelia Fay January of 1956 and she preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2000. He later married Marge Lakin and she preceded in death Nov. 11, 2009.
He is survived by a son, Sam (Elaine) Lakin of Roodhouse; three daughters, Joni (Don) Sutcliffe of Hazel Park, MI, Sara Fay of Ann Arbor, MI and Rita (Doug) Barnowski of Howell, MI, 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two step-sons, David (Penny) McClenning and Danny McClenning; a step-daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Landreth; two sisters, Janet Barlow of Berdan and Joyce Clevenger of White Hall; a brother, Lyndell Lakin of Berdan, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, a daughter, Kimmy Lakin; brothers, Royal, Raymond, Glenn, Neil, Leon, Terry, and Randall Lakin; and three sisters, Mary Hughes, Norma Mohn, and Twyla Painter.
Elmer was a member of Berdan Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1954-1959. He worked at Detroit Diesel retiring in 1998 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years. He enjoyed playing cards and having family events.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Burial followed in White Hall Cemetery. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Greene County Health Department Visiting Nurses or Meals on Wheels.
