Danette Strang, a 2022 graduate of Winchester High School and the first ever Scott County Fair Queen, will compete at the end of this week in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant.
“I am going to Springfield Thursday and will meet the other girls and have practices,” Strang said. “Then Friday is more rehearsals.”

Sunday the top 15 are chosen and the girls that are in the top 15 will compete in swimwear, speech and on-stage questions.
The winner will be announced Sunday evening. Tickets for Sunday’s events are sold out.
Strang said she has been very busy preparing for the pageant.
“In addition to working on pageant questions, the dance we are supposed to learn, and other things, I’ve been experimenting with hair styles, make-up, keeping up with my tanning, packing my bags,” Strang said. “It’s a lot of work and I love every minute of it.”
Strang said her pageant directors, Heather Wardlow and Brittney Peterson have been a huge help to her in helping her get ready for the weekend.
“I have been listening to all of their advice,” Strang said.
Sträng attends Maryville University when she majors in finance and business administration. She plans to continue her school and obtain her MBA.
“After that I would like to become a financial therapist or advisor,” she said.
Strang is the daughter of Norman and Barbara Strang.
