It’s a cold January with a projected snow this Wednesday. Time will tell about the amount.
The social events of the area revolve around birthdays, anniversaries, school events, and outings.
Eldon and Christine Johnes celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary with dinner with their family Saturday evening at the Fill Inn Station. A nice crowd joined them.
Joyce Simon celebrated her birthday at the Fill Inn Station with family for a dinner get together. There was a nice crowd there.
Luke, Rachelle, Reese, and Lennox Hillen attended the State Fair Queen competition Saturday evening. Miss Calhoun County Lucy Kallal, was in the competition. We are all proud of Lucy and her court.
Weekend grandchildren visiting at Bernie and Robin Hillen home were, on Saturday, Leland and Reign, and; on Sunday, Jake and Jordan.
The Batchtown Methodist Church Service will host their 5th Sunday of the month service with the “Singing Sunday.” This is celebrated in months that have five Sundays. Everyone is welcome.
Bible Class is held at the Methodist Church every Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. All are welcome.
On Saturday evening Nora stayed with grandparents, Fred and Gina Rose, while her parents, Annie and Henry Kinder, took little Henry to St. Louis to watch the Monster Trucks. This was Henry’s Christmas present.
Sunday evening, Abby and Dylan came over to watch the football game with Fred and Gina Rose.
Jeremy and Andrea Pohlman celebrated Braden’s birthday on the 15th with a buffet dinner and birthday cake with siblings. Carlin and Lauren, and family and friends. Have a wonderful year Braden.
Saturday evening, Jan. 21, Joyce Simon was honored by her family and friends with a birthday party at the Fill Inn Station. The family enjoyed the meal, visit, and birthday cake. A good time was had by all. Happy birthday Joyce we wish you many more happy birthdays.
St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, and Clothing Store will be open just one day a week starting, Wednesday, Feb. 1. The hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Robin Hillen is the Pantry operator. The phone number is 1-618-576-2500.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society helps with rent, utilities, mortgage ,GED, and help with other agencies. Call the volunteer hotline at 1-618-310-1141 for assistance.
