The Calhoun County Board heard bids and presentations from website designers at last week’s meeting.
Three web designers presented proposals for the future Calhoun County website which will feature a local events page, maps, the history of Calhoun and page for county government.
The board also approved the appointment of an interim Supervisor of Assessments. Three individuals had expressed interest working as supervisor of assessments on a contractual or interim basis, but after further discussion only one continued to show interest.
The board said there is a concern with getting the 2023 tax cycle started on time and approved the motion to appoint Mark Twain Realestate Services Inc. as interim supervisor of assessments with a 2-1 vote.
The board took a moment to thank those that helped meet the deadline for vote by mail ballots.
“Without your help, the voting, stuffing, labeling, sealing and mass mailing would not have gotten done. The over 3,000 letters were sent to the post office by 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. Thank you all,” a letter from Calhoun County Clerk Amy Friedel stated.
Keisha Morris took a moment to address the board regarding an Assignment of Easement of Odelehr Tower. Morris spoke on behalf of a company looking to expand wifi service that would require an easement of the tower. The company would like to add an option to purchase and the end of their easement lease. The board tabled the item for later review, with reluctancy to allow the purchase option but interest in extending the lease in the future.
In other business the board approved a historic grants and preservation ordinance, discussed snow removal issues at the west central ambulance service dispatch, buyout lot use for RVs, issued a resolution of support to the Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau and approved the previous meetings minutes with amendments.
