New correspondent taking over the news next week
The GP School District is taking part in Dolly Parton’s Imaginary Library. Any child birth to age 5 can receive a free book each month in the mail. All you need to do is pick up and fill out a form from the Griggsville School office or call Barb Webel during school hours at (217) 833-2352 to get signed up. We appreciate Raegan Stauffer who represented Western Illinois at the Illinois County Fair queen pageant last weekend!, competing against 71 other fair queens. I’m told that Reagan done an amazing job!
We extend our sympathy to the family of Pete Reel who passed away last Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Illini Community Hospital.
Steve and Jeannie Kessinger have returned home after a week at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Congratulations to GP seventh grade boys basketball team on their win over Payson in the regional semifinals Saturday! The seventh graders will play Southeastern in the regional championship game at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 25) in Perry.
T.J. and Samantha Kessinger, Deni Taylor, and Dewayne and Nadine Kessinger attended a basketball game at Gillispie, last week to watch Tripp Kessinger play ball and also to watch him be recognized at ‘Eight grade night.’
Thelma Butler is celebrating her 90th birthday with an open house at the Skinner House in Griggsville this Sunday from 1-4. Family and friends are invited to stop by and help her celebrate.
Lew Wade celebrated his 90th birthday Saturday, Jan. 15 with a surprise party hosted by his family at the Bradshaw Lodge. Family and friends enjoyed a camofluage theme party with dinner and cake. Lew appreciated the many acts of kindness from those who helped him celebrate his milestone including gifts and cards. Hosting family included his wife Donna, Marsha and Mairin Welden of Stillman Valley, Lynn, Sheryl and Julia Wade of Grant Park, Christine, Kevin, Faith, Emily, and Grace Henthorn of Griggsville, Rodney Guthrie of Pittsfield, and Diane and Joe McLeese of Vandalia, Mo.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Darla Tyler who passed away Monday, Jan. 23 at her home.
Nadine Kessinger, Thelma Butler, Loretta Butler and Vicki Norris enjoyed a shopping day in Quincy on Friday.
