Jerseyville City Council held their regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 24.
In new business, the council approved an ordinance to purchase property from Phillip Hansen for $37,500, being part of the re-subdivision of lots of Cross County Estates, to be used for a stormwater detention basin site as part of the Sandy Creek Phase 1 drainage improvement project.
The property is already a site for the water detention basin and this will allow the contractor to continue to expand the existing basin.

A motion was approved awarding a bid from Stutz Excavating for parking and drainage improvement work at the Susnig Center. A bid for roof restoration at the Susnig Center was tabled during the meeting while the council waits for pricing on different types of materials.
During the meeting council also tabled a discussion regarding a land lease with AT&T Communications tower to be located on Washington street.
In other business, the council approved a motion for the City Clerk and Assistant Deputy Clerk to attend the Municipal Clerks of Illinois Winter Seminar in Charleston.
The council also announced Employee Service Awards. The Service Awards included Sergeant John Lawson of the Jerseyville Police Department for 25 with the Department of Public Affairs, Sergeant Daniel Green for 15 years with the Department of Public Affairs, Officer Rich Portwood for 15 years with the Department of Public Affairs, Bobby Lawson for five years with the Department of Public Affairs, Bradon Purcell for five years in the Department of Public Property, Tyler Hermans for five years with Parks and Recreation, Laura Ingram for 25 with the Jerseyville Public Library, Dave Harmon for 25 years with the Jerseyville Fire Department, Tim Bean for five years with the Fire Department and Tim Lyons for 10 years with the Fire Department.
