It’s the last day in January and the County is experiencing an ice storm. Hope the winter weather is better in February.
Bernie and Robin Hillen, and their son, Tony and his children Kale, and Karson, enjoyed supper at the Fill Inn Station Saturday night.
There was a nice turn out for the Adult Prom “Gala” at the Knights of Columbus Hall Saturday night. Some of those attending were: Ben and Jackie Baalman, Tony and Jana Sievers, and Greg and Lauren Eilerman. The time era was the 1980s with the dress, and music of the times. The eighth grade students of Calhoun Elementary advanced in the Regionals last week. Henry Barczewski, and many others are on the team.
Mart Ann Flanigan, Theresa Schulte, and Kathy Schulte joined other family members on Sunday to help Marjorie Jones celebrate her 90th birthday at the Care Center in Hardin. Happy birthday Marjorie.
Kenny and Bette Eilerman butchered at their home over the weekend. Bryan and Lisa Lumpkin, and their children were home to help them.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Jackson Thomas Lieber, 21, of Georgetown, Texas, who died Jan. 18, 2023 in Liberty Hill, Texas. He is the grandson of Dick Lieber of Hardin. Jackson will be buried in St. Norbert’s Catholic Ceremony. A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Gress, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather there again at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the TexasMusicProject.org, which develops, and produces life changing music education programs, and experiences for disadvantaged youth.
The St. Barbara Altar Society at Batchtown will meet for their Altar Society Meeting Monday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m.

Blow, winter snow!
Falling snow
And freezing temperatures
Cannot govern
The spirit that refuses
To be winter bound
The heart
Makes its own weather.
