The Calhoun High School (CHS) Class of 2024 will be holding a Father Daughter Dance fundraiser this month to support their prom.
The Father Daughter Dance was originally started by Hardin Village Clerk Danielle Hurley in 2015 when she was Hardin’s Girl Scout Troop leader and was held annually until 2019 when the troop disbanded.
Danielle Hurley is now the junior class sponsor and said her daughter, Ava Hurley who is a junior at CHS, had the idea to bring back the Father Daughter Dance to raise funds for her class.
According to Danielle Hurley, the junior class is behind on their fundraising and she believes this will be a great way for the class to get back on track.
“The students have been great at taking charge and doing things like planning, getting things ready, and making fliers,” said Danielle Hurley. “They’ve been a pleasure to work with and they’re enjoying it.”
The dance will take place on Friday, Feb. 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Calhoun Knights of Columbus Council 4417 located at 19899 Illinois River Road in Hardin.
Daughters from preschool through eighth grade are invited to attend. Each father/daughter couple is $30 and each additional daughter is $10.
Attendees are asked to RSVP at https://forms.gle/8VvXe7fTWxEscvUE7 by Friday, Feb. 10, so that they can order an appropriate amount of food (pizza, salad, donut bar).
Payments can be sent via Venmo to @danielle-hurley-21, or by check (made out to Class of 2024) mailed to Danielle Hurley, PO Box 274, Hardin, IL., or dropped off in the Village of Hardin drop box. Any questions can be texted to Hurley at 618-578-4762.
“This event was always so popular and I’m glad the class is bringing it back,” said Danielle Hurley.
The junior class is also bringing back and sponsoring the seventh and eighth grade Winter Formal next Friday, Feb. 10, at the Rastello Room in Hardin at 7:30 p.m.
