It’s been quite a week here in Calhoun for all ages. Unit 40 PTO hosted a Back to the 80s Prom on Saturday night at the KC Hall– lots of supporters took their looks back to the 1980s for a night of 80s rock and good fun. While the adults were busy taking their looks back to the 80s, the students at St. Norberts and St. Mary’s were taking their looks the opposite way and turning themselves into 100-year-olds in celebration of their 100th day of school this year.
Both sets of costumes, the young being older and the older being younger, were equally fun.

Sympathy to the family of Ervin Nolte on his passing. I got to know Ervin and his wonderful wife Rita through the Calhoun Entertainment Company. Their very talented granddaughter, Ellie, has performed in many musicals and Christmas concerts as well as the Jamborees. Ervin and Rita never missed an event. This past year I’ve seen them at the ball games for their grandson, Blake. He was a proud devoted grandpa and he will be missed.
We were very sorry to receive the news here in Kampsville on the passing of Ida Capps. Ida and her husband, Dan, called Kampsville their home up until just a few years ago. I knew Ida here in Kampsville, but I really got to know Ida when she was employed by Calhoun Elementary. She was an amazing aid to the students. She had so much compassion. Ida left a lasting mark on every student she worked with– an absolute wonderful lady. Please keep her daughter, Michelle; sons, Matt and Jarod; and grandkids in your prayers and continue prayers for Conner Gilman, Joyce Blumenberg, Darren Kress, Zel Blumenberg, Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Whitney Gibson, Angie Suhling and Cassie Blackwell.
