The Jersey Calhoun Jaycees are currently selling tickets for their second annual Hog Raffle and this year’s proceeds are benefitting Two Rivers Crime Stoppers (TRCS).
The local Jaycees Chapter began selling tickets for their Hog Raffle on Sunday, Jan. 1, and will continue to sell them throughout the counties until the raffle on March 11. Two winners will be drawn for a half hog each, with processing included. Tickets can be purchased online or in-person from the Jersey County Farm Bureau and the Calhoun County Farm Bureau, or directly from a member of the Jersey Calhoun Jaycees.
TRCS President Terry Woelfel said that he is thankful for the local Jaycees and their decision to benefit TRCS.
“I really appreciate that the Jaycees are doing this for us, it really means a lot to get some extra support,” said Woelfel.
Woelfel said that TRCS only holds one fundraiser per year and that they are able to do a lot for the community based on donations.
“Every dime we’ve gotten, we’ve raised ourselves through donations, sometimes large anonymous donations, it’s such a wonderful thing [the Jaycees] are doing,” said Woelfel. “We’ve helped to solve a lot of crimes over the past seven years. [Two Rivers Crime Stoppers] is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever been a part of.”
Jersey Calhoun Jaycees President Ashley Buchanan shared her enthusiasm about the event.
“Jersey Calhoun Jaycees is so excited to host the second annual Hog Raffle, supporting our Two Rivers Crime Stoppers,” said Buchanan. “If anyone is interested in tickets, they are $5. Contact a member or visit the Jersey County Farm Bureau to purchase tickets. ”
Woelfel said that the funds raised for TRCS will likely be used for payouts for crime tips. He added that he hopes people get out and purchase tickets.
The hog is being provided by Fritz Pork in Jerseyville and the processing is being provided by Behrmann’s in Albers, Ill.
The Jaycees Hog Raffle location is yet to be determined, but it will be held on March 11. Contact Buchanan at 618-535-9166 with any additional questions, or to purchase tickets.
