Ida Louella Capps | 73 | Jerseyville
Ida Louella Capps, 73, of Jerseyville, passed away peacefully at 5:25 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, IL with her family by her side.
She was born Nov. 27, 1949 in Hamburg, IL. The youngest daughter of Earl and Irene (Bauser) Dirksmeyer. Ida graduated from Calhoun High School in 1968. She married the love of her life Daniel J. Capps at the Hamburg Methodist Church in Hamburg IL on June 29, 1969. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2022.
She graduated from Lewis Clark Community College with her Associate degree. With Dan she owned and operated Capps General Store in Kampsville, The Starlite Dairy Bar in Kampsville, and Jerseyville Carpet and Furniture Galleries. She worked as a teacher’s aide for many years at Calhoun Unit 40 School District. She was a member of Westlake Country club and enjoyed spending time there with family and friends. She enjoyed her many shopping and antiquing trips with family and friends. Ida enjoyed having lunch dates with her family and friends. Ida was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed keeping family traditions alive, especially making apple butter and chicken and noodles. She traveled to many destinations with her husband. Her favorite role in life was being a mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them. She was very excited to have her first great grandchild coming in May.
Surviving are her children, Matthew Capps (Mary) of Jerseyville, Michelle Webster (Tony) of Hardin, and Jerrod Capps (Laury) of Jerseyville; her grandchildren, Cory Rowling (Samantha) of Jerseyville, Chase Webster of Hardin, Ethan Capps of Jerseyville, Ella Webster of Hardin and Finlee Heckrodt of Jerseyville; a sister, Mardell Doerr; two sisters-in-law, Susan Klunk (Jim) and Marilyn Johnson (John); a brother-in-law, James Ewen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hannah Burchett (Jack) and Irma Hannel (Billy); a brother-in-law, Donald Doerr; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Ewen.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville followed by a luncheon and celebration of life beginning at 12 noon at the Westlake Country Club in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to Calhoun Community Swimming Pool or Weekend Power Pack for Kids.
