The Calhoun Warriors boys varsity basketball team played a home non-conference game against the Edwardsville Metro-East Lutheran Knights on Saturday, Feb. 18. The game was a close victory for the Warriors, who won 60-56.
The Knights came out swinging in the opening minutes of the first quarter, scoring 15 points and holding the Warriors to just nine. A comedic flip flop occurred in the second quarter however, as the Warriors scored 15 points and kept the Knights to only nine. At half time, the score stood tied at 24-24.
Heading into the third quarter, both teams heated up offensively, and competed furiously against each other. The knights bombarded the Warriors with 20 points and showed no signs of slowing. The Warriors responded in similar fashion by scoring 19 points.
As the third quarter ended, the score was 44-43 Knights.
Both teams slowed down by the fourth quarter, with offense being slight and defense reigning. The Knights scored 12 points, but fell short of the Warriors with 17.
The final score stood at 60-56. The Warriors are 12-19 as of writing. Winning their final game of the year in an excitingly close game.
