William Wayne Howland | 92 | Carrollton
William Wayne Howland, age 92, of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 21, 1930 in Kampsville, the son of Elza and Lillian Martin Howland. He married the former Barbara Baker Nov. 7, 1951 in Jerseyville and she survives. They celebrated 71 years of marriage.
He is also survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Debra (Mike) VanHuss of Girard; a son, Randy (Joan Stewart) of Carrollton; three grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley) Howland, Brittany Howland, Bethany VanHuss; and a great granddaughter, Meadow Howland; two brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Howland of Carrollton, Jerry (Carol) of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Roger Howland.
Bill went to Kampsville High School the joined the United States Army serving four years. He fought during the Korean Conflict. He received many medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. When returning home, he worked for FS and retired after 40 years of service.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial followed in Carrollton City Cemetery.
