Pike Community school in Pittsfield has named two individuals as students of the month.
Tage Perry, a fourth grader, was selected from C-Pod and Hunter Waters, a seventh grader was selected from D-Pod.
The teachers recommending them for the student of the month had this to say about them:
• Cpod
Tage Perry – “This young man goes above and beyond to make several students in the special education programs feel special and get help where needed. Students and staff recognize his efforts but he never really wants any special recognition for his kindness, it’s just part of who he is. His efforts are obvious at lunch and recess where he pays Brave Bucks every day so he can sit at the table where these special students sit. His kindness doesn’t stop with just students. He will, on numerous occasions, stop by our classroom just to say hi or ask how our day is going or talk sports. He definitely stands out above others!”
He is the son of Ryan and Bobbi Perry.
• Dpod
Hunter Waters – “As a school, we are always talking about ‘engaged students.’ This year especially during the third quarter, this young man has become that student. He has developed a deeper interest in his education which has motivated him to take control of his own learning. He has raised his level of effort in his studying which has also raised his level of results. He is willing to do the extra work since he understands it will benefit him. I am very proud of him and this growth is very exciting, and reassuring, to see from a student.”
Waters is the son of Jarrod Waters and Ariel White
Other nominees include: Maci Neff, Sophie Kirgan, Stella Bonnett, Aaron Heightman, Bryleigh Frieden, Schae Leonard, Meagan Heffington, Olivia Hull, Henry Nash, Henri Maki, Gabe Bogue, Fiona Young, Rylee Bogue, Oliver Hancock, Savannah Waters.
