Our weather is now acting like a lion, but hopefully will go out like a lamb.
The Stations of the Cross will be held on the Fridays of Lent at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s in Brussels, and St. Norbert’s in Hardin. Both are at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The Batchtown Women’s Club met March 15 at the Fill Inn for their regular meeting. Many came for supper before the meeting. Those present were Jean Tepen, Barb Margherio, Barb Sperlo, Marcy Klockenkemper, Elaine Titus, Robin Hillen and Karen Friedel. They spent the evening filling eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt on April 8,
Lenten Fish Fries that are coming up are March 24 at the Legion Post 685 in Brussels, March 31 again at Legion Post 685 at the Brussels Legion. Everyone is welcome.
There was a great turnout for St. Anselm’s ham bingo Saturday night. Several from the Batchtown area were there and many went home with a ham. An enjoyable evening was had by all.
A Bible Study is being held at Saint Francis of Assisi Office every Wednesday from Feb. 22 to April 5 from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The course is free of charge and includes study guides. One does not need to register, and there isn’t a requirement to attend all sessions
Linda Russell visited Steve and Cindy Mezorus and Hayden over the weekend.
Greg and Sarah Harding and children, Clayton and Adelyn, visited Eldon and Christine Jones Saturday night and went to the Fill Inn Station for their pork chop special.
Bernie and Robin Hillen’s visitors Saturday were grandchildren, Grayson, Emery and Hayes. On Sunday, Robin visited her mother, Mary Ann Bailey, in Michael.
Kate Arlene Peters, infant daughter of Aaron and Becky Peters, was baptized Sunday, March 11, with Father Don Roberts officiating. Grandparents are Jim and Laura Brodbeck and Curt and Cherie Peters. Congratulations on your special day.
Calhoun Quarter Auction will be held April 1 at the Hardin KC Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the quarter auction begins at 7 p.m. There also will be a silent auction, 50/50 drawing and good food.
Bible Class is held at the Methodist Church every Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. All are welcome.
Lindy and Martha Bick had a fish fry at their home in honor of Dave Bick’s birthday on March 18. Also attending was Dave’s family, Rachael, Claire and Levi Bick.
Calhoun Entertainment Company Community Theater-TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE!
Tickets for the Spring Musical, “9 to 5,” are now on sale at Northside Family Foods, Hardin Package Liquors, and all county locations of the Bank of Calhoun County and the Bank of Kampsville. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $10 for grade school and under. The musical is Friday March 24; and Saturday, March 25; at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. All performances are at the Archeological Center in Kampsville
Fred and Gina Rose took a trip to Springfield, Ill. Saturday to the Convention Center to see the comedian, Jeff Dunham. They enjoyed the show and a delicious meal.
Verann Klockenkemper visited Ted and Elda Hayn on March 16 for Elda’s birthday. Also attending were Terry, Jared, Tonya and Tammy and families. Happy birthday Elda!
