The Winchester School board met Tuesday, March 14, and made several personnel decisions.
After a lengthy closed session, the board granted tenure to Lauren Brown and Christina Stocker.
Non-tenured teachers re-employed were: Kenda Bass, Lisa Hileman, Kaitlin Melton, Dominic LaSalle, Hillary Milam, Steve Carey, Mackenzie Gieseke, Addy Welbourne, Rene Chapman, Kessie Melanson, Bobby King, Sami Killebrew, Amy Davis and Allyson Huffman.
Also employed for the 2023-24 school year were Nick ZuHone, assistant principal and Katie McDevitt, junior high science teacher.
Contracts were renewed with Denny Vortman, Winchester High School principal, Krysta Coon, school nurse and Kevin Blankenship, superintendent.
Resignations were accepted from Brittany Peterson as Winchester Grade School Cheer coach and Izzy Cox as Winchester Grade School girls basketball assistant.
In other action, the board:
• Approved renewal of membership in the IESA and IHSA;
• Changed the date of the April meeting from April 11 to April 18;
• Discussed, but took no action on Sunday graduation. The matter will be revisited.
The meeting adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
