The Carrollton Lady Hawks split a double header last Thursday, but it wasn’t just any double header – it was a double header between two different teams.
The first game had the Lady Hawks go up against the Carlinville Lady Cavaliers. The Lady Cavies got off to a good start putting up two runs in the first inning. Lauren Flowers took the mound for the Lady Hawks pitching the entire game giving up just two earned runs off of 10 hits while striking out five in the Lady Hawks 10-5 victory.
Flowers was 1 for 3 at the plate, but her one hit just happened to be a home run with one on base to earn her two RBI’s
Other hawk scorers were Vanna Holmes who went 2 for 4 and scored a run; Megan Camden who was 2 for 2 with a homerun and 4 RBI’s; Sophie Pohlman who went 2 for 3 with two walks, two RBI’s and scored a run and Ella Stumpf who went 2 for 4 who scored two runs and had an RBI.
The second game had the Lady Hawks face Southwestern in what could be described as nothing less than a slugfest as the score can attest to. Unfortunately, the Lady Hawks came up on the short end of that slugfest, losing 21-15.
Carrollton’s Hannah Uhles was on fire with the bat going 4 for 5 at the plate with a home run and scoring six of Carrollton’s 15 runs. Vanna Holmes went 3 for 4 scoring a run and adding another RBI to her stats.
Megan Camden went 3 for 5 with a home run resulting in an RBI and scored two runs for her team. Ella Stumpf also went 3 for 5 with a stolen base and scoring two runs.
The loss to Southwestern put the Lady Hawks at 19-7 on the season.
